Research topic

The production of banana is under threat from severe biotic and abiotic threats. Due to the unique characteristics of the crop, there are many challenges to effectively and efficiently develop new cultivars that would be resilient in a changing world.

My PhD project aims to explore novel approaches to could aid banana breeding. Many questions remain unanswered about the phenological control of banana, and it is necessary for the design of advanced breeding protocols.

Objectives
Investigate environmental effects on growth and development of banana plants in vitro
Establish a genetic engineering platform for banana for resistance gene validation.
